A short drive along the Exe Estuary to the ancient Roman city of Exeter. Crowned by its glorious Cathedral, Exeter blends the modern with ancient walls and medieval architecture. Visit the Royal Albert Museum, the Catacombs, the Castle or the Ship Inn (the haunt of Sir Francis Drake).

Exmouth is situated on the estuary of the River Exe and is Devon’s oldest seaside resort. It was developed as a resort in Georgian times and was once the most select seaside resort in Britain. It offers a rich mixture of immaculate sands and lovely gardens, well known for their beautiful floral displays.There are boat trips aplenty but also lots to do on dry land with good shops, a museum, the world’s largest OO gauge model railway and many old pubs.

Exmouth has good shopping with an indoor market and a pedestrianised high street, as well as Georgian pubs and high quality restaurants serving a variety of local and international dishes. The yacht harbour is a few minutes walk from the Cavendish Hotel.
