ELAN VALLEY & WELSH CRYSTAL FACTORY
This holiday is about relaxation and scenic
beauty. It would not be complete without a tour
of the beautiful Elan Valley with its scenic
reservoir. Visiting the Elan Visitor museum,
overlooked by the towering and dramatic dam.
On to Rhayader, on the banks of the Wye, to
visit the Welsh Crystal Factory to see traditional
craftsmen at work producing Wales’ only handcrafted
crystalware. |

Llandrindod Wells
A perfect example of a Victorian spa town. Canopied
streets, delicate wrought ironwork, gabled villas
and ornamental parklands. A perfect retreat with much
to enjoy - the boating lake and splendid Rock Park
Gardens, the restored Pump Room in the Spa Centre
for afternoon tea and the Radnorshire Museum in the
Memorial Gardens.
YOUR HOTEL
The AA 3 Star Metropole Hotel is the premier
hotel in mid- Wales. Ideally situated before open
green lawns and close to the parks and shops. Family
owned and run, nearly two million pounds has been
spent in ensuring the hotel keeps it premier status.
Let your daily excursions create an appetite for delicious
meals served in the restaurant and conservatory, awarded
a prestigious AA Rosette for Food. The hotel’s Victorian
grandeur is complemented by a superb indoor Leisure
Complex; featuring large indoor swimming pool, whirlpool,
sauna, steam, gymnasium and beauty salon. There is
a lift to all floors. After dinner, stroll the town
and gardens or relax in the informal atmosphere of
Spencer’s Bar and enjoy light evening entertainment. |
EXCURSIONS INCLUDE
WELSHPOOL & POWIS CASTLE A scenic drive
through the rolling hills and valleys of borderland
Wales to Welshpool, a bustling Welsh town. Time for
you to explore the narrow lanes, the Powysland Museum
and Montgomery Canal Centre. The day would not be
complete without an included visit to majestic Powis
Castle. One of the great Medieval castles of Wales,
it rises dramatically above its celebrated Italian
terraced gardens. The castle, home of the Earls of
Powis and cared for by the National Trust, contains
one of the finest collections of paintings and furniture
in Wales along with a beautiful collection of treasures
from India displayed in the Clive Museum. Entrance
is included to the grand state rooms and gardens.
(Please note there are steps, some of which are steep,
throughout the castle and ground)
.
RHEIDOL STEAM RAILWAY A wonderful tour through
the Wye Valley to Devils Bridge and the Mynach Falls.
Against the backdrop of the spectacular gorges, we
experience the wonder of a bygone age as we board
one of the great little trains of Wales - ‘the Vale
of Rheidol Steam Railway’. Enjoy wonderful views as
we make our way down the mountains to the seaside
resort of Aberystwyth (once lovingly termed the ‘Biarritz
of Wales’). Promenade the seafront with its tall gabled
hotels, journey on the cliff rail, stroll along the
pier or relax in the many small cafes and bars.
