PERTHSHIRE
As we drive through Perthshire we call in
to the Perth Visitor Centre. Enjoy a fabulous
display of craftsmanship in the making of
pottery, paperweights and crystal and discover
a gem in the large collections on offer.
STIRLING Calling into Stirling, Scotland’s
ancient capital. Time to visit the magnificent
Stirling Castle, situated at the head of Stirling’s
Old Town, mounted high on an old volcanic
outcrop. Here, delve deep into Stirling’s
past and re-live the movie experience of ‘Braveheart’,
starring Mel Gibson, with staged battle scenarios
as well as other historical reconstructions.
Or, why not visit the dark corridors of the
‘Old Town Jail’ or the shops in the Old Victorian
Arcade.

EXCURSIONS INCLUDE
“Monarch of the Glen” A feature day as
we take you along the Spey Valley and the Whiskey
Trail. First, to Elgin, Scotland’s smallest and
friendliest city; steeped in history, overlooked
by a ruined castle, classical town centre, award
winning museum, restored 18th century town houses
and a beautiful ruined cathedral.
BAXTER’S, the Royal soup makers. In
to the mountains to Baxter’s Highland Village. Start
in a breathtaking Baronial Hall, read the inspiring
history and visit the Old Museum Shop, a replica
of the original in Fochabers.
Finally, into the mountains to the River Livet (‘the
smooth flowing one’), and the world famous Glenlivet
Distillery, situated in one of the last
great wildernesses. The landscape has changed little
since the 1800’s when the first drops illicitly
trickled from the stills. Tour the distillery before
a complimentary ‘wee dram’.
ROYAL DEESIDE & BALLATER A Royal tour
as we take you on a scenic delight over the Highland
mountains of the Grampians. Through Tomintoul (the
highest town in Britain) we head down to the River
Dee.
Passing Balmoral Castle, we call into Craithie Church,
a delightful parish church frequented by the Royals
and where the Princess Royal was married. On to
Ballater - a delightful ‘Victorian’ town in the
centre of Royal Deeside. We continue on to Braemar,
through the Spittle of Glenshee and Pitlochry, to
return to our hotel.
INVERNESS & Loch Ness A visit to the Capital
of the Highlands, Inverness, is a must. See the
site of the last battle on British soil on the windswept
Culloden fields. Chance to visit the Castle and
the old town. On to Loch Ness and Drumnadrochit,
home of the Loch Ness monster visitors centre. Who
knows, you might find the conclusive proof!
